With nearly eight years of experience at Tomás Alva Edison School, she has developed a solid understanding of students’ needs, having served as Grade Coordinator for 1st through 6th grade in elementary school.
For the past three years, she has led the Safeguarding Department, specializing in Child Protection and safeguarding procedures across all school levels, from elementary through high school.
She has deep knowledge and experience in the prevention, intervention, and management of critical situations such as bullying, abuse, maltreatment, self‑harm, risk behaviors, and mental health concerns, working to ensure a safe and protective environment for our entire student community.
Nuria Aguiñaga Chiñas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a specialization in Clinical and Health Psychology from Universidad Panamericana, and she currently serves as the Safeguarding Lead in our Middle School. Her vocation is to support adolescents and their families, creating spaces for listening, emotional containment, and growth. With her experience in individual psychotherapy and work with young people, she strengthens socio‑emotional support programs, conflict mediation, and prevention initiatives, always with sensitivity, professionalism, and a comprehensive approach to student care. She also has a strong interest and experience in therapeutic and educational innovation, which allows her to integrate cutting‑edge tools such as immersive technologies.
Escuela Tomás Alva Edison promotes a safe environment where student wellbeing and protection are a top priority. The entire educational community - staff, families, and service providers - shares the responsibility to prevent, identify and act on any risk, abuse, or neglect, following clear protocols and ongoing training to ensure the overall development and safety of every student.
Students learn with adults the school carefully selects and verifies through background and reference checks before they work with them.
Learners benefit from regular training for staff and the school community that helps adults detect, prevent and respond quickly to any risk or abuse.
Students share worries through clear, confidential channels, supported by trained safeguarding staff who act whenever a concern arises.
Children feel safe in a calm, respectful environment where they can talk openly, ask questions and raise any concern.
Learners follow clear rules for devices and online behaviour that prevent cyberbullying and misuse of technology.
Students at risk or affected by harm receive prompt care, including psychological or external specialist support when they need it.
Children appear in photos or videos only when families give consent and activities take place in supervised, safe settings.
